The 4th Semiannual  Portio Creaturae Tuae (PCT) Conference is THIS WEEK!  This event is both run by and features our own students- it’s a huge moment in the life of our department.  Please attend if you can!  This Thursday, Nov 29th at 11am- 12:30pm in SAC 310.  Graduate students Steve Chaffee and Ken Fletcher will be presenting.  Wine and snacks will be provided.

The Advent Graduate Retreat “A People in Darkness Have Seen a Great Light!” will be held on campus on December 8th, and will run from 10am- 3:30pm.  Students of all faiths are welcome to this day of preparation for Christmas.  Email Lauren to register: ljoyce@villanova.edu.  Price is $5 and includes lunch.  

CRS International Development Fellows Program(IDFP): call for applications!  Are you a graduate student seriously considering a career working overseas for an international relief and development agency?  Interested in testing the waters for a year to see if it’s right for you?  Consider Catholic Relief Services’ IDFP.  Details below listed on Wednesday, November 28th.

Join the Order of Saint Augustine and the University community in a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Corr Hall. Known originally as St. Mary’s Hall and built for use as a seminary, its construction was the result of a gift from Bernard Corr, an Irish immigrant and Catholic philanthropist. The ceremony will include Vespers in the Corr Hall Chapel, at 4:00 PM, a blessing of the building and a reception in the lobby at 4:30 PM. The event is sponsored by the Office for Mission & Ministry, and free and open to the public.

Wednesday, November 28th

Are you a graduate student seriously considering a career working overseas for an international relief and development agency?  Interested in testing the waters for a year to see if it’s right for you?  Consider Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) International Development Fellows Program (IDFP). (crs.org/about/careers/fellowships/)  On Wednesday, November 28, from 4 – 5:15 p.m., in Corr Hall Lounge, two senior CRS staff will fill you in on IDFP, CRS, and answer your questions.  CRS recruits approximately 80% of its staff from IDFP.  IDFP application deadline: 12/12/12.  For more information, contact: suzanne.toton@villanova.edu. The Sorcerer’s Semester, a marathon reading of the Harry Potter series, continues in Falvey Library from noon to 6pm.  Refreshments provided- come and volunteer to read!

Call for Papers: Dept of Religion at Columbia University. “Religion on the Move: Movement, Migration, Missions and new Media across Religious Traditions,” a graduate student conference, will be hosted by the Department of Religion at Columbia University on April 26, 2013 in New York City. We encourage submissions from those in all fields with interests in the study of religion. Submissions are due by December 28, 2012. Those interested should send a 500-word abstract, along with name, institution, specialization, and year of study to columbiareligion@gmail.com.
